Lazy Days

Our culture today seems to tell us moms that we need to be perfect. That we need to have all of our ducks in a row, and that we have to appear put together at all times, too. That isn’t reality though, unless you happen to have tons of money and are able to hire helpers, which is not true for most people.

I love to look good. I also like it when my son is dressed nicely, his hair done, and wearing adorable shoes. But there are some days where I just can’t. I love to spend time with my family, and some days I don’t care how or what that looks like.

Our lazy day—hanging out on the couch 💜

If that means that some days I’m in my pajamas all day with no bra, and wearing underwear from the night before, then so be it. I strive to look put together and presentable when I’m out and about, but there are days when I just don’t feel like it.

For every person you’ve ever seen, envied, and wanted to be, remember that they are just like you. Don’t feel bad living in your pajamas for the day, with your teeth unbrushed and your hair tossed up in a bun. They do it too.

On the other hand, if this is you and you’re going out looking that way everyday, it might be time to change things up. Do yourself a favor—put on some nice clothes, do your hair, throw on some mascara. There really is something to be said with the phrase, “when you look good, you feel good”.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that in order to look “good” you have to fit the mold of the world around you. Do what makes you feel most beautiful in your own skin. Find what fits your unique personality, and most importantly find what you love.

Now I know some of you are probably thinking to yourselves, “Well, what the heck is this lady talking about? I love to go to the store in my PJs.” If that’s truly you, than more power to you. Keep rockin’ it. But my question to you would be why?

Why do you feel like you need to do that? Is it really just convenience, or do you feel like you don’t have the time? Or maybe it’s just not worth it to you?

If it’s because you’re not feeling beautiful in your own skin, know that you are beautiful. If you don’t hear that often enough, please read that sentence over and over again until you actually believe it.

When we begin to care and love ourselves by taking some time for ourselves, our entire outlook can start to change. We become more loving towards others, our attitude becomes lighter, our walk becomes stronger, and our view of the world becomes sweeter.
